The interesting new lighting collaboration between David Netto and Soane British rethinks classic materials.

When you think of rattan in your design, you may think of rustic country estates or tropical resorts in your mind. Designer David Netto has a completely different reference to palm materials: Marella Agnelli's interior design, aircraft seats from the 1930s, and retro furniture by Michael Taylor and Isamu Kenmochi all influenced the new series of wicker lights he produced in collaboration with Soane British. "I have always admired Soane's taste," said the artisan-centric London brand Netto, known for highlighting Britain's endangered craftsmanship, including rattan weaving. "And the use of rattan guarantees that something will have youthful vigor and informality."

"When David sent his initial sketches, it was obvious that he understood the sculptural potential of rattan work," said Lulu Lighter, co-founder of British Thorne. It is true that Neto has some of the best wicker craftsmen in the world: in 2010, Thorne, England, saved one of the last rattan factories in England. Therefore, Netto's vision is quite free, because he designed devices like Bouillotte pendants, which were inspired by the metal and glass of Hubert de Givenchy's home on the Côte d'Azur. Pendant. At the same time, the slanted Trousdale wall lamp and floor lamp are inspired by the medieval houses in Los Angeles. There are nine offerings in total.
